Approximately 2,000 JBNU members attended the match between Jeonbuk Hyundai and Jeju SK FC on October 18 at 2:00 PM, passionately cheering together.
This cheering event was organized as part of the exchange that has continued since JBNU and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors signed an agreement in 2015. Jeonbuk Hyundai designates one day each year as "JBNU Day," inviting university members and thus maintaining ties that connect the university and the local community.
The match was attended by about 2,000 people, including President Yang O-bong, administrators, faculty and staff, family members, and students including international students. University members cheered together for the local club, sharing a sense of belonging and pride as JBNU members.
Before the match, President Yang O-bong and the Student Council President participated in the ceremonial kickoff, adding meaning to JBNU Day. In the stands, the combined cheers of students, faculty and staff, and family members created a moment of unity for the university community.
International students also joined the cheering, experiencing the local sports culture. Despite differences in nationality and language, they supported the same team and spent time interacting as members of JBNU and the local community.
In the match, Jeonbuk Hyundai secured a 3-2 victory, aided by a multi-goal performance from Tiago, culminating in a thrilling finale to JBNU Day.
President Yang O-bong said, "It was a meaningful time in which students, faculty and staff, and international students cheered together for the local club and shared pride as JBNU members," adding, "We will continue to fulfill the university's role of walking with the region through various exchanges and cooperation with the local community."
