Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced on the 16th that it has officially established the 'JBNU International Center' within Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, a prestigious university in France, and has begun expanding its global education and research network across the European region.
JBNU's Director of the Office of International Affairs, Cho Hwa-rim, visited several major French universities recently and on the 12th visited Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 to attend the opening ceremony of the JBNU International Center. On that day, Director Cho met with the university's President, Gilles Bonnet, and closely discussed future cooperation with JBNU, including attracting international students.
The newly opened 'JBNU International Center', in collaboration with the Department of Korean Language, will provide Korean language education to local students and serve as a "K-Culture and Academic Exchange Platform" that promotes Korea's diverse culture and values.
Based on the increased interest in Korean popular culture in Europe, JBNU plans to operate systematic cultural and educational programs to enhance Korea's status.
In particular, the center's establishment is expected to significantly boost personnel and academic exchanges between the two universities.
The scale of undergraduate exchange student dispatch will be expanded, and the possibilities and linkage channels for outstanding students from Lyon 3 to enroll in JBNU's graduate programs have been greatly broadened.
At the same time, JBNU will actively promote collaborative research, joint teaching, and the hosting of international joint seminars among faculty to further raise global research competitiveness in the humanities, social sciences, and various academic fields.
JBNU President Yang O-bong said, "The JBNU International Center at Lyon 3 in France will serve as a forward outpost that directly disseminates JBNU's outstanding educational and research capabilities in Europe," and added, "We will continue to steadily expand substantive international exchanges and further solidify our standing as a glocal university."
