The Department of Psychology, the Happy Dream Center, and the Center for Coaching Psychology Research have been operating outreach emotional support services that visit members of the university community in their daily environments, and these services have been well received. By offering opportunities at festivals and fairs for individuals to check their stress levels and emotional states, they are increasing accessibility to psychological services.
As part of the National University Development Project, the "Global Customized Emotional Adaptation Support Program" was established to help current students, faculty and staff, and international students manage their mental health and adapt to university life more stably.
The core of the program is that participants can experience psychological and emotional support services at familiar on-campus events without having to visit a separate counseling center. The services, recently offered twice at the Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Inter-College Festival and the College of Social Science's Major Exploration Fair, drew approximately 100 and 80 participants respectively, totaling about 180 people.
On site, an experiential stress assessment service using heart rate variability (HRV) and electroencephalography (EEG) was provided. Participants reviewed their results to assess their condition and took time to reflect on the need for stress management and emotional self-care in daily life.
Multilingual support for international students also attracted attention. Services were offered in English, Mongolian, and Chinese to lower language barriers, and students of various nationalities participated. This confirmed the need and potential to expand tailored emotional support that considers the characteristics of domestic and international students.
Based on this positive response, the Department of Psychology, the Happy Dream Center, and the Center for Coaching Psychology Research plan to expand the scope of the services. On November 3, they will operate the outreach emotional support service at the Iksan Specialized Campus to improve accessibility between campuses and enable more members of the university community to check on their mental health.
The JBNU Department of Psychology will continue to expand experiential psychological services and tailored emotional support programs to support the psychological health of the university community and their stable adaptation to university life.
