The Central Library (Director Seol Dong-hoon) is partnering with local bookstores to host "Four-Color Bookstores: Four Bookstores, Four Tastes," an event where students and local residents can enjoy books and culture together.
Held as part of the National University Development Project, the event runs from October 19 to 23 on the Central Library's South Gate terrace and lawn plaza. The program showcases the unique character of local bookstores alongside university students' creative works. It was organized to expand the university library into a cultural space open to the local community and to promote reciprocal exchange between the university and the region through books.
Four local bookstores—에이커북스토어, 책방토닥토닥, 소소당, and 청동북카페—are participating. Each bookstore will exhibit and sell curated recommended titles reflecting its distinct tastes and characteristics and engage with students and local residents. An on-site lending service will allow visitors to borrow new titles immediately, providing an opportunity to discover new books.
An exhibition sharing local university students' creative works will also be held. The "Sentences of Books, Scenes of the Region" exhibition, organized in association with the Glocal University Project, will present poems and short fiction by the student clubs Geulchum and Somang from the Department of Korean Language & Literature at JBNU, and photographic works by Prologue, a club from Gunsan University. Local bookstores and students from both universities will participate together to broaden exchanges through books and creative works.
During the event, the lawn plaza will operate as an open reading space where students and local residents can freely read and relax. Bookstore booths will be open from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The student creative exhibition will be open for viewing from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Seol Dong-hoon, Director of the JBNU Central Library, said, "This event brings together the distinct character of local bookstores and the creative works of local university students in one place. I hope it will provide an opportunity for students and local residents to communicate through books and culture and help the university library establish itself as an open cultural space in partnership with the local community."
