Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), led by President Yang O-bong, has partnered with Imsil County (County Governor Han Deuk-su) to cultivate specialized professionals who will lead the regional agro–life industry through field-tailored education.

JBNU on October 13 at 3:00 p.m. signed an agreement with Imsil County on the (tentative name) Establishment and Operation of the Department of Agro–Life Convergence. The agreement laid the groundwork for cooperation to build an education system that reflects local industry demand and to train specialized personnel.

This agreement was pursued to link the university's educational capabilities with the region's industrial base, systematically develop the talent needed in the agro–life field, and support the sustained growth of the local industry.

Under the agreement, both parties will pursue the establishment and operation of the Department of Agro–Life Convergence, a retraining-focused contract department, aiming to open in March 2027. They plan to reflect on-site demand from the agro–life sector in the curriculum to cultivate professionals with practical competencies.

JBNU and Imsil County intend to strengthen the connection between university education and industry through this cooperation and to join forces so that the training of specialized personnel leads to improved competitiveness of the regional agro–life industry.

JBNU will continue to expand cooperation with local governments and industry to promote education and talent development that reflect regional characteristics, and to broaden the foundation for the region and the university to grow together.

President Yang O-bong said, "To enhance the competitiveness of regional industries, it is important to train professionals needed in the field and to actively share the university's educational capabilities with the region," adding, "Through cooperation with Imsil County, we will strengthen the practical training foundation for the agro–life sector and create a cooperative model in which the region and the university grow together."
