Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) graduate Dr. Jin Sang-hyun has been appointed as an assistant professor in the Major in Semiconductor Physics, Division of Basic Science, Glocal College of Advanced Science and Technology, Changwon National University.

Dr. Jin graduated from the Department of Physics at JBNU in 2017 and obtained a Master of Science degree from the same graduate school in 2019. He later received his Ph.D. in Science from the University of Valencia, Spain, in 2022.

After obtaining his doctorate, he continued his research as a postdoctoral researcher and has led major government-funded research projects, including the 'Sejong Science Fellowship', which provided research funding of ₩500 million over five years.

In particular, he distinguished himself in the nanotechnology and semiconductor fields by elucidating the optical properties of metal halide perovskites and metal–organic chalcogenides, and by researching thin-film deposition processes.

Over the past five years, Dr. Um has published 10 SCI(E)-level papers. His excellent research achievements have been internationally recognized, including ▲Perovskite light-emitting diodes (IF 40.2, JCR top 1%) ▲Electroluminescence From a 1D Metal–Organic Chalcogenide Enabled by a Minute-Scale Facile Synthesis (IF 14.1, JCR top 10%) ▲Stabilizing Single‐Source Evaporated Perovskites with Organic Interlayers for Amplified Spontaneous Emission (IF 7.2, JCR top 10%).

Dr. Jin said, "I was able to reach this position thanks to the warm guidance and encouragement of many professors, including Professor Lee Hong-seok of the Department of Physics at JBNU and Professor Henk Bolink of the University of Valencia," and added, "I believe that junior researchers can achieve their goals if they consistently devote themselves to research while enjoying it."

Dr. Jin plans to cultivate talent at Changwon National University responsive to the demands of the advanced semiconductor industry, and to contribute to academic development and strengthened industrial competitiveness through research on next-generation physics, nanotechnology, and semiconductor technologies.
