Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has launched an initiative to support the digital transformation of the region's industry by providing customized training to employees of local-affiliated company Lotte Energy Materials to enhance their artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
The JBNU RISE Project Group announced that it is conducting a four-session AI training program for employees at Lotte Energy Materials' Iksan plant from September 11 to October 13.
This training was organized under an industry–university cooperation agreement between JBNU and Lotte Energy Materials. It aims to help company personnel apply AI technology effectively in their daily work amid a rapidly changing industrial environment and to improve operational efficiency and digital competitiveness.
The program is systematically organized into basic and advanced courses to reflect participants' practical needs. It is a hands-on, practice-focused curriculum that covers AI-based work automation techniques, building and using AI agents, and the latest development approach, Vibe Coding, all designed for immediate workplace application.
In particular, the training is conducted so that AI can be used as a practical tool to improve core work methods in industrial settings, and it is expected to greatly help current employees strengthen their AI capabilities.
Jang Tae-il, Director of the JBNU RISE Project Group, said, "This training is an example of local–industry–academia cooperation in which the university's expertise is closely aligned with corporate field needs," and added, "Building on the cooperation with Lotte Energy Materials, we will further specify industry–university–research cooperation measures to promote technology collaboration and to cultivate the specialized workforce required by regional strategic industries."
