Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Sociology announced on the 23rd that it will officially launch the 'Local Content Production Club' program, linked to the major course 'Qualitative Research Methodology', beginning this October.

The program will run for five weeks from October 12 to November 9. It will be conducted through staged workshops and field investigations. The focus is on sociologically observing and understanding the everyday lives, relationships, and social contexts of people living in local alleys and sites, moving beyond a simple perspective of tourism and consumption.

Participating students will develop research questions on site, meet residents and merchants to collect stories, and gain practical experience by producing the material into various types of content.

To enhance the program’s planning capacity and content quality, the Department of Sociology will collaborate with the local planning firm Local Flowworks. Industry professionals will participate as mentors, including Choi Byul, CEO of Oneul-ui Pyeongya and a former MBC producer who planned the YouTube channel 'Oneureun'; Kim Ae-rim, CEO of the independent local web magazine 'Bimaik'; essayist and local resident Jeon So-hyun; and Kim Ri-o, editor at Brik Magazine, which specializes in space and architecture.

Students will begin in week 1 by deriving problem awareness and formulating questions, learn reporting and recording techniques in week 2, and design interview-centered field investigations in week 3. In week 4 they will conduct in-depth interviews and field recordings at regional hubs such as Nammun Sa-it-gil and Nambu Market in Jeonju. In the final week they will produce the final content—either a short-form video or a local archiving interview article—based on the materials collected.

This program is open to any JBNU Department of Sociology students who are interested in sociological inquiry and local content production.
