Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) received a KRW 10 million development fund donation from Park Hyung-geun, CEO of Samsung Co., to support students' academic pursuits and healthy diets.

The Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation presented a plaque of appreciation to Mr. Park on September 18 in the President's Office at University Headquarters, with President Yang Oh-bong and other senior university officials in attendance.

Mr. Park, who operates Samsung Co., a distributor of hygiene products, disposable containers, food ingredients, and general merchandise in the Jeonbuk region, first became connected to the university while studying Japanese at the JBNU Language Institute.

He said he was grateful to have met good teachers and fellow students at the Language Institute and to have been able to focus on his studies thanks to the excellent educational facilities.

In particular, his experience of enjoying healthy and tasty meals at the university dining hall Jinsudang inspired him to give back to JBNU.

Mr. Park donated to the JBNU Scholarship in the hope that no student would be unable to fully devote themselves to their studies due to financial difficulties.

He also designated part of the donation for the '1,000-Won Breakfast' so that students worried about meal costs while studying could eat with greater peace of mind.

The donation will be used equally, with 50% allocated to the JBNU Scholarship and 50% to the designated fund for the '1,000-Won Breakfast'.

Mr. Park said, 'I am grateful to have been able to study in JBNU's excellent environment, and I hope JBNU will continue to prosper.'

He added, 'I will continue to take an interest in JBNU and participate in efforts to support the university's development and share for students.'

President Yang Oh-bong stated, 'We are deeply grateful to Mr. Park Hyung-geun for his thoughtful attention not only to students' academic pursuits but also to their healthy diets, and for practicing warm generosity. We will honor Mr. Park's valuable intention by doing our utmost to ensure that students can concentrate on their studies and continue to have healthy meals.'
