Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) drew approximately 5,000 participants to a large-scale job fair for local university students and young job seekers, creating an on-site employment support venue in cooperation with the region and the university.

JBNU Division of Career Support held the '2026 JBNU Job Fair' on the 16th at the Jinsudang area. The fair was organized with the Jeonju Employment Welfare Plus Center and featured strong participation from 'Glocal University 30' project partner universities, including Gunsan University, Woosuk University, Wonkwang University, and Jeonju University, making it an event aimed at revitalizing employment across the region.

JBNU students, alumni, and local young job seekers who visited the venue checked job descriptions, required competencies, and recruitment procedures at company recruitment consultation booths and received one-on-one counseling. Company recruitment presentations provided an opportunity to learn about the latest hiring trends, each company's desired candidate profiles, and preferential conditions, helping attendees develop more concrete employment strategies.

This year's fair attracted public institutions such as the Korea Rural Community Corporation, the Korea Racing Authority, and the Korea Radio Promotion Agency, as well as major companies including CJ Freshway, Korean Air, and LG Chem's Life Sciences Division, drawing strong interest from young job seekers.

In particular, a representative from Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance announced that participating students would receive extra points in hiring, and DY also expressed a willingness to actively consider candidates, demonstrating the high expectations that participating companies had for the students.

JBNU organized the venue by industry sector to make it easier for participants to explore. It operated zones including a 'Secondary Battery Zone' focused on the secondary battery field, designated as an advanced strategic industry in the Saemangeum National Industrial Complex, as well as a Finance & Services Zone, a Manufacturing & IT Zone, and a Public Enterprises Zone, allowing attendees to access information on companies and institutions from various industries in one place.

Employment capacity-building programs such as personal statement and resume consulting, interview consulting, fingerprint aptitude testing, and personal color analysis were also offered. Free snacks — coffee, ice cream, cotton candy, churros, so-tteok so-tteok, and 'employment-wishing rice cakes' — were provided, adding to the festive atmosphere and allowing job-seeking youth to take a breather and cheer each other on.

Vice-President Yun Myeong-suk said, "This fair was planned not only for our university students but also to create conditions that allow young job seekers in the Jeonbuk region to find jobs and settle locally," and added, "JBNU will continue to work in harmony with the region, consider regional development and youth settlement, and fulfill its role as a regional flagship university that supports young people's futures."
