Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Nursing (Dean Professor Kim Hye-young) has begun training specialized personnel, together with Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province, to lead integrated care in local communities.
The College of Nursing, as part of the JBNU RISE Project Group, conducted a three-day "Integrated Care Response Capacity-Building Training for Health and Nursing Personnel" from September 14 to 16.
The program aims to connect the university's expertise and educational infrastructure in nursing and public health with local care sites, strengthen the practical capabilities of dedicated integrated care personnel in the field, and establish a care system that promotes residents' health and quality of life.
About 60 licensed nurses who are public servants responsible for integrated care at long-term care home medical centers, home-visit nursing services, public health clinics, and similar sites participated in the training.
The training focused on strengthening practical skills that can be immediately applied in the field—such as home-visit nursing, emergency care, case management, and service coordination—moving beyond the limitations of theory-heavy programs. In particular, local public health and medical stakeholders and nurses from Jeonbuk National University Hospital, who currently handle these duties, directly participated to enhance the program's expertise and practical relevance.
Kim Hye-young, Dean of the JBNU College of Nursing, said, "Integrated care does not operate with medical services, long-term care, and daily living support moving independently. It can truly be effective in residents' lives only when local professionals and resources are closely connected. JBNU College of Nursing will continue to work closely with Jeollabuk Special Self-Governing Province to cultivate the personnel needed in the field and to build a solid Jeonbuk-style integrated care foundation that allows everyone to continue living healthy and with dignity in their communities."
JBNU College of Nursing has steadily contributed to the integrated care initiative and to the training of community nursing personnel through education and support that link JBNU's excellent infrastructure and professional workforce.
