Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has announced the official opening of the next-generation integrated information system 'JUMP (Jeonbuk National University Management Platform)' and the research funding management system 'JUIC (Jeonbuk National University Industrial Cooperation Foundation)'.

JBNU held an opening ceremony for the next-generation systems (JUMP & JUIC) on September 10, attended by about 100 members of the university, including President Yang O-bong.

The event, held under the slogan 'JUMP to the Future', brought university members together to share the outcomes of JUMP—developed for integrated management of academic and administrative affairs—and JUIC—developed for efficient research funding management—and to declare JBNU's leap into the AI era. 

At the ceremony, President Yang O-bong praised the university members who worked on the next-generation systems and urged continued improvements to the systems to strengthen the university's digital competitiveness. Afterwards, Hong Deuk-jo, Director of the Office of Information Innovation, reported on the progress and results of the JUMP implementation project, and Baek Ki-tae, Vice-President of Industry-University Cooperation, reported on the progress and results of the JUIC implementation project.

Finally, the university community jointly declared the opening of the next-generation systems. During the opening declaration, university members counted down together and President Yang pressed the start button to officially open the systems and declare JBNU's leap toward the future (JUMP to the Future). 

JUMP is JBNU's core project aimed at overhauling the outdated information systems and transforming the university's academic and administrative operations into a user-centered model. It is a large-scale project with a total investment of KRW 12 billion, initiated with the development of the 2023 Information Strategy Plan (ISP), and then carried out in phases—analysis and design, development and testing, and data migration—from 2025 to 2026.

JUMP implements key features such as user-customized services including mobile and portal platforms, the development of approximately 4,000 new screens for a paperless work environment, multilingual services for international students, integrated management of co-curricular activities and graduate self-assessment, and strengthened multi-factor security. 

JUIC is a next-generation research support system built with approximately KRW 3 billion invested from 2024 to 2026. It integrates the entire research administration process, from research project applications to the execution and settlement of research funding.

Through an electronic documentation and electronic approval-based paperless environment, JUIC reduces administrative burdens on researchers and improves the efficiency and transparency of research funding management, while also strengthening workflow linkage between researchers and research support departments. Based on JUIC, JBNU plans to create an environment that allows researchers to focus more on research and to continuously advance research support services to strengthen the university's research competitiveness.

President Yang O-bong said, 'The opening of JUMP and JUIC is not merely the construction of new systems; it is an important starting point for transforming the university's education, research, and administrative functions into a more convenient and efficient AI+X environment,' and added, 'We will continue innovating to enhance educational and research competitiveness by continuously improving the systems each year.'
