Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has restructured its admission tracks to strengthen recruitment of outstanding local talent and to enhance the training of locally based medical personnel, and will select a total of 3,507 students through the 2027 early admissions.

The number of admits is 1,034 for the Comprehensive Student Record Admissions, 2,337 for the Student Record Admissions, and 136 for the Arts and Physical Education Practical Admissions. Within the Comprehensive Student Record Admissions, the Keun-Saram Track will recruit 524, Regional Talent Type 1 107, and Regional Talent Type 2 6, among others. For the Student Record Admissions, the General Student Track will admit 1,419, Regional Talent Type 1 701, and Regional Talent Type 2 124, among others.

In particular, JBNU newly established Regional Talent Type 1 (Honam region) and Regional Talent Type 2 (Jeonbuk region) within the Comprehensive Student Record Admissions to strengthen recruitment of outstanding local talent and the cultivation of regionally based talent. As a result, selection of regional talent, which had been limited to the Student Record Admissions, has been expanded to the Comprehensive Student Record Admissions, thereby widening application opportunities for students from the Jeonbuk region as well as the Honam region including Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Gwangju.

A total of 948 regional talent candidates will be selected through this early admissions, accounting for approximately 27% of the total early admissions. This represents an increase of 114 from the previous year, and the regional talent recruitment ratio has expanded by 1.8 percentage points year-on-year. JBNU plans to support outstanding local students through the expansion of regional talent tracks so they can develop their capabilities at local universities and grow into key talents who lead regional industry and social development.

The Premedical Course will introduce a new Student Record Admissions track called the "Regional Physician Selection Track." The intake is six for the metropolitan area, nine for the Jeonju area, one each for the Gunsan and Iksan areas, and two each for the Jeongeup and Namwon areas, totaling 21. Through this, JBNU intends to cultivate candidates with an understanding of local medical practice and a commitment to remain in the region, and to contribute to strengthening the region's essential medical infrastructure.

The Student Record Admissions is based 100% on academic grades. For the Comprehensive Student Record Admissions, the Keun-Saram Track, Regional Talent Types 1 and 2, the SW Talent Track, and the Social Integration Track, selection will be based on 80% document screening in the first stage and 20% interview evaluation in the second stage. Certain tracks—such as the National Veterans Admissions Track, the Rural Students Track, and the Equal Opportunity Admissions Track—will be selected solely based on document screening. Depending on the track, CSAT minimum score requirements and school violence disciplinary actions will be applied.

Applications will be accepted online from September 7 at 9:00 AM to September 11 at 7:00 PM via the JBNU Admission Information website (https://enter.jbnu.ac.kr/). Candidates who pass the first stage of the Comprehensive Student Record Admissions will be announced on November 20 at 2:00 PM. Interviews will be held on November 26 and 28, and the initial successful candidates are scheduled to be announced on December 18 at 2:00 PM.
