Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (Dean Choi Nak-jin) is expanding students' employment opportunities and supporting regional settlement by collaborating with agro–life industries and related organizations in the Jeonbuk region.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will hold the "2026 AGRI-FEST: Career and Employment Briefing Based on Agro-Life Industry Demand" and "Lab to Dream: Exploration of Majors in Agriculture and Life Sciences" on the 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the plaza in front of the Main Hall and at key campus facilities.

The event invites leading companies and public agencies in the agricultural and life sciences sectors to campus to provide students with direct information on industry jobs and recruitment. It is designed to strengthen employment linkages so that outstanding talents trained locally can enter various positions within Jeonbuk's agro–life industries and related organizations. The program is characterized by phased support from major exploration to job understanding, career planning, and employment preparation.

In particular, a variety of related organizations, including agro–life companies and public institutions with business sites or major bases in the Jeonbuk region, will participate and introduce job roles and recruitment information available locally. This will help students move beyond Seoul‑centric employment information and explore a range of career paths and job opportunities in Jeonbuk where they can apply their majors and skills.

Participating employers include major agro–life companies such as LS Mtron, TYM, Asia Seed, and Sangha Farm, as well as the Rural Development Administration and its affiliated organizations, the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency, the Korea Arboretum and Garden Management Agency, and the Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency.

Participating companies and institutions will introduce their main projects, job roles, recruitment procedures, and desired qualities in candidates, and will communicate directly with students. In particular, they will focus on presenting job roles and career paths that are based in the Jeonbuk region or connected to the regional agro–life industry, thereby broadening students' options for regional employment.

Students can obtain information in one place on job roles and employment opportunities across a wide range of agro–life industries, including crop and livestock production, seed companies, smart agriculture, agricultural machinery, food, and bio sectors, as well as R&D and public service fields. The event will also offer special employment lectures, mentoring by alumni currently working in the field, and one‑on‑one customized consultations on employment and further study to support individual students' major and interest‑based job preparation.

Booths by departments and majors will be set up at the plaza in front of the Main Hall. Each department will introduce its curriculum, companies and institutions and industry sectors that graduates can enter, and key job roles. The Division of Career Support, Central Library, and the College’s Farming Startup Specialization Project Group will also operate support booths to provide information needed for job preparation, entrepreneurship, and study support.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences plans to strengthen a virtuous cycle linking "local talent development – connection with local companies and institutions – employment – regional settlement." The college will expand employment linkages with industry to enable the excellent agro–life talents it trains to demonstrate their capabilities at companies and public institutions in the Jeonbuk region, and will reinforce connections between industry manpower needs and university education.

Held on the same day, "Lab to Dream: Exploration of Majors in Agriculture and Life Sciences" is an on‑site major exploration program for lower‑division students preparing to choose a major. Participating students will tour in advance‑applied departments' laboratories and classrooms, and educational and research facilities such as farms, greenhouses, and animal breeding facilities to review major‑specific key educational and research areas and related career paths.

The program is designed not merely as a facilities tour but to allow students to directly experience and compare the educational and research content and career information of multiple majors. Through this, the college aims to assist lower‑division students in selecting a major and to establish a step‑by‑step career support system that links "major exploration – career planning – job understanding – employment" from major education to industrial employment.

Dean Choi Nak‑jin of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences said, "The Jeonbuk region hosts a concentration of public agencies and research institutions in the agro–life sector, including the Rural Development Administration, as well as companies, and has a diverse industrial base in crop and livestock production, seed industries, smart agriculture, agricultural machinery, food, and bio. We will further strengthen the university's role in connecting students trained locally with industry so that excellent students can demonstrate their capabilities and settle stably at companies and institutions in Jeonbuk."

He added, "We will actively play a role in building a virtuous cycle of talent for Jeonbuk's agro–life industry by connecting local companies and institutions with the talented individuals they need and providing students with quality regional jobs and employment opportunities."

Meanwhile, as the agro–life industry emerges as a core growth engine for Jeonbuk, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at JBNU plans to expand education, field training, and employment programs linked with regional agro–life companies and innovation institutions, and to continuously strengthen a virtuous talent‑development cycle that enables excellent locally trained graduates to enter and settle in the regional agro–life industry.
