Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Dentistry achieved two outcomes—'sharing' and 'international exchange'—simultaneously in Vietnam.
 

JBNU College of Dentistry (Dean Yang Yeon-mi) successfully completed the '2026 Glocal PBL Vietnam Hue University Educational Volunteer Program' from July 15–19, 2026, a four-night, five-day mission in Hue and Da Nang, Vietnam.
 

The program was hosted and organized by JBNU College of Dentistry, with support from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Hue UMP) and its affiliated hospital, and the Korean Association of Maxillofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (KAMPRS). A total of 20 participants—including Dean Yang Yeon-mi, seven faculty members and alumni, 12 undergraduate students, and one graduate student—integrated volunteer clinical services, joint faculty training, student international exchange, and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) into a single initiative.
 

In particular, the full-day international volunteer clinical service held on July 17, 2026, provided dental treatment, preventive care, consultations, and oral health education to local residents and students, delivering tangible support to the community. Under close faculty supervision, students assisted with patient intake and oral health education, documented activities on site, and experienced learning and service simultaneously in field settings beyond the classroom.
 

Student development continued through team-based projects. Three teams (A, B, and C) directly analyzed field data and proposed solutions on topics including the development of preventive education content for children, analysis of caries risk factors, and comparison of the Korean and Vietnamese dental systems. They shared valuable outcomes through final presentations and a completion ceremony on the program's last day.
 

Academic exchange was also deepened. The delegation officially visited the headquarters of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy to discuss cooperation in education, research, clinical practice, and student exchange. At a joint academic seminar, Professor Kim Dong-yeop presented on 'Multidisciplinary Research on the Oral Microbiome,' and Professor Lee Jeong-jin spoke on 'Digital Dentistry and Contemporary Prosthetic Treatment.' A student exchange program between the two schools and an information session on the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) for graduate study were also provided, sowing seeds for future collaboration.
 

These exchanges are producing visible results in graduate school internationalization. As a result of this program, two affiliates of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy are scheduled to enter the doctoral program at JBNU College of Dentistry starting from the second semester of the 2026 academic year, making international educational volunteering a solid pathway for attracting outstanding graduate students.
 

Dean Yang Yeon-mi said, 'This program was more than simple overseas volunteer work; it was a forum where education, clinical care, and international exchange came together.' She added, 'As these exchanges are leading to the recruitment of outstanding graduate students, we will continue to develop the program so it serves as a valuable platform for students to cultivate not only clinical knowledge but also a broad global perspective and a spirit of sharing.'
