The 20th Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Mathematics Experience Exhibition, where mathematics—often perceived as difficult and unfamiliar—can be touched, explored, and enjoyed, will be held this weekend on the 29th and 30th on the 5th floor of the Main Building of the College of Education at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU).

The event, organized by the Department of Mathematics Education in the College of Education at JBNU, is designed to present mathematics not as a difficult or unfamiliar subject but as a hands‑on experience to be explored and enjoyed. Local elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as members of the public, may visit freely and participate from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the event. No prior registration or participation fee is required.

The venue will host interactive spaces on various themes, including algebra and creativity, geometry, puzzle experiences, board games, and mathematical escape rooms. Participants will naturally learn mathematical principles encountered in daily life through activities using mathematical teaching aids and math games, while developing logical thinking and creative problem‑solving skills.

In particular, students of the JBNU Department of Mathematics Education will take part in planning and operating the hands‑on programs, explaining the mathematical principles and practical applications embedded in each teaching aid at an age‑appropriate level. The event is expected to broaden local students' interest in and opportunities for mathematical inquiry and to provide prospective teachers with practical training to enhance lesson design and on‑site instructional skills.

The Mathematics Experience Exhibition, which the JBNU Department of Mathematics Education operates annually as part of the National University Development Program, has consistently received positive responses as a community‑linked mathematics education event. Last year, about 1,000 local elementary, middle, and high school students and parents participated.

This year, the organizers plan to improve booth traffic flow and spatial layout to further enhance participant convenience and on‑site engagement.
