Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) operates the Agricultural and Livestock Microbial Industry Development Support Center (Foundation), which is strengthening the beekeeping industry’s quality competitiveness through objective honey quality assessments and high-confidence standard testing.

The Center was designated in 2024 by the Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Service as a "Honey Grade Determination Standard Testing Institution." Accordingly, based on the "Guidelines for Implementing Honey Grade Determination," it provides standard testing services for honey quality management to beekeepers and related businesses.

The Center focuses on objectively assessing honey quality and delivering accurate test results, leveraging professional analytical personnel and testing and analytical infrastructure. Through this, it supports beekeepers in systematically managing quality from production through distribution and enhancing consumer confidence.

In particular, following approximately 80 honey standard tests conducted last year, the Center has carried out about 200 tests so far this year, actively responding to increasing demand. As on-site demand for honey grade determination grows, the Center contributes to establishing a stable production and distribution foundation for the related industry by providing prompt and impartial testing services.

In addition to honey standard testing, the Center is designated as a feed testing institution, a fertilizer testing research institution, and a pesticide testing research institution, carrying out testing and analytical work across the agriculture and livestock sector. Based on accumulated analytical experience and expertise, it supports the safety and quality control of various agricultural and livestock products.

It also participates annually in international proficiency testing programs such as FAPAS and LGC to objectively verify the accuracy and reliability of its analytical results. Through this, it continuously reviews its testing and analytical capabilities and strengthens its quality control system to provide highly reliable analytical services.

The Center's official said, "Honey standard testing is an important foundation for stable production and distribution by beekeepers and for securing consumer confidence," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to work to enhance the competitiveness of beekeepers and related industries based on our accumulated testing and analytical expertise and systematic quality management capabilities."
