Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Academic Forest, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences operated a forest healing program to help adolescents achieve emotional stability, relieve stress, and foster character in a nature-friendly setting. The program received a strong response from participating students.
JBNU Academic Forest operated a youth forest healing program on August 13 at Geonji Mountain (Deokjin Academic Forest) and the Jangsu Healing Forest area.
The program was designed to allow participants to recover physically and mentally and to relieve accumulated daily stress through various activities, including forest meditation, forest healing activities, plant talks, and ecological observation. Thirty youths from the Inhu Youth Center participated in the event.
The students who took part in the program said, "Walking in the forest and taking part in various activities relieved the stress I usually carry, and it was enjoyable to spend time with friends in nature," and, "When I get tired in daily life, I learned how to restore the village through nature," they said in unison.
Kang Hak-mo, Head of the JBNU Academic Forest (Professor, Department of Forest Environmental Science), said, "We will continue to actively contribute to the healthy growth of local adolescents and the promotion of forest welfare through various forest healing and education programs that utilize forest resources."
