    Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Physical AI Core Technologies to Be Commercialized Through More Co., Ltd.

    JBNU's core foundational technologies in the field of physical AI will be developed into commercial technologies for defense and public safety beyond the laboratory.

     

    The JBNU Industry-University Cooperation, led by Baek Ki-tae, Vice‑President of Industry‑University Cooperation, announced that it signed a technology transfer agreement worth a total of 350 million won with domestic AI specialist company More Co., Ltd. on July 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Industry-University Cooperation conference room at the University Headquarters.

     

    The signing ceremony was attended by Baek Ki-tae, Vice‑President of Industry‑University Cooperation, JBNU; Cho Hyung-gi, Professor in the Division of Electronic Engineering; Cho Hyung-geun, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of More Co., Ltd.; and other officials from both organizations. The parties agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation so that research and development, field demonstrations, and commercialization can proceed smoothly after the technology transfer.

     

    The technologies transferred are three items developed by Professor Cho Hyung-gi’s research team at JBNU: a method and device for global position determination; a three-dimensional map merging system and method using overlap-region estimation technology; and a method and device for constructing visual-language maps.

     

    Importantly, this technology transfer is significant because it goes beyond a simple transfer of patent rights and is linked to product development and field demonstrations through participation in a national R&D program worth 5.7 billion won (Research & Development Special Zone Promotion Foundation’s “AI Global BigTech Development Program”).

     

    The transferee, More Co., Ltd., possesses AI inference software technology that can efficiently operate large-scale AI models across various AI accelerator environments. Through this agreement, the company plans to combine its existing AI infrastructure and software capabilities with spatial intelligence and unmanned vehicle domains to actively expand its physical AI business.

     

    JBNU, as the lead organization of the national physical AI demonstration project, is promoting industrial dissemination of its physical AI research outcomes, including establishing demonstration hubs in the manufacturing and logistics sectors. This technology transfer is expected to serve as an industry–university collaboration model that connects JBNU’s foundational technologies, More Co., Ltd.’s AI commercialization capabilities, and Saemangeum’s demonstration infrastructure.

     

    Professor Cho Hyung-gi of JBNU said, “The transferred technologies are core foundational technologies for multiple unmanned vehicles to jointly perceive space and share mission information.” He added, “We will continuously advance the technologies through follow-up collaborative research with industry and field demonstrations so that our research outcomes can be practically applied in defense and public safety settings.”

     

    Cho Hyung-geun, Chief Strategy Officer of More Co., Ltd., stated, “We will develop an integrated unmanned vehicle platform that can be operated in real-field environments by combining JBNU’s foundational spatial intelligence technologies with More’s AI software capabilities.” He added, “Based on demonstrations in Saemangeum, we will pursue entry into domestic defense and public safety markets as well as global markets.”

     

    Baek Ki-tae, Vice‑President of Industry‑University Cooperation, JBNU, said, “This agreement is a full-cycle technology commercialization case in which the university’s excellent research outcomes lead to technology transfer, national R&D, corporate product development, and regional demonstrations.” He added, “We will continue to strengthen support so that JBNU’s physical AI research outcomes contribute to corporate growth and the development of future industries in the Jeonbuk region.”
