Jeonbuk International Development Cooperation Center (Director Baek Sook-hee) will run a series of special lectures on international development cooperation for elementary, middle, and high schools in the Jeonbuk region from June–November, 2026.

The special lectures on international development cooperation are designed to enhance students in the Jeonbuk region’s understanding of international development cooperation and ODA and to cultivate the awareness and attitudes required of global citizens. Major topics include climate change, cultural diversity, career exploration in international development cooperation, and human rights and refugees. Sessions will be tailored to students’ levels according to school grade and class audience.

Notably, this year an international student from Myanmar, She Yamin-ae, will participate as an instructor and deliver special lectures on human rights and refugees at middle schools in the Jeonbuk region on July 10 and 13, 2026.

She Yamin-ae participated in the 14th cohort of ODA利, a Jeonbuk regional university student ODA club run by the Jeonbuk International Development Cooperation Center, and later completed the 2026 instructor training course for the special lectures on international development cooperation. In her classes, she will address concepts of human rights and refugees, past and present situations, and the roles of the international community and Korea, focusing on her experiences and cases from Myanmar.

She Yamin-ae said, "Since coming to Korea and encountering civic education and global citizenship education, I have felt that such education is greatly needed. I am deeply honored to be able to convey the meaning of human rights, refugees, and civic education to students using the case of Myanmar." She added, "I hope this special lecture will provide students with a valuable opportunity to understand and reflect on international issues together. While I remain in Korea, I want to continue sharing Myanmar's stories with those who take an interest in Myanmar and carry on activities I can do."

The Jeonbuk International Development Cooperation Center plans to support students in connecting international issues—such as climate change, cultural diversity, and human rights and refugees—with their own lives through these special lectures. The Center also aims to provide educational opportunities for students to gain a broader and more multidimensional understanding of international issues through an instructor roster with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

The 2026 Special Lectures on International Development Cooperation will be conducted onsite, with instructors visiting the requesting schools. The Jeonbuk International Development Cooperation Center will cover all operating costs, including instructor fees.
