Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Nursing (Dean Hye-Young Kim) announced on the 15th that the public healthcare institution site-visit program it operated during the summer break to strengthen students' career competencies concluded with strong student response.

As part of the National University Support Project, the "AI-Based Integrated Understanding of Healthcare and Career Exploration Program (Domestic Healthcare Public Institution Site-Visit Program)" enabled students to recently visit, in sequence, the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA) and the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) located in Wonju, Gangwon Province.

Participating students first took part in the "HIRA School" program operated by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, receiving specialized instruction on Korea's health insurance review and assessment system, the current use of healthcare big data, and the future direction of AI-based healthcare services. They also toured the agency's facilities to observe actual work environments and organizational operations, experiencing firsthand the importance of digital-based practical skills and professional expertise required in the future healthcare field.

At the National Health Insurance Service, students attended a special lecture on health insurance, spending time broadening their overall understanding of the role and operational structure of the National Health Insurance system, major healthcare policies, and the functions of the Service.

The program was conducted with the goals of ▲enhancing an integrated understanding of AI-based healthcare systems ▲strengthening digital practical skills through field-centered learning ▲and improving career-planning capabilities suitable for future healthcare environments.

One student who participated in the program said, "Being able to understand on site the health insurance system and review and assessment work that I had only learned about in theory was very meaningful. Also, seeing how AI and healthcare data are actually used in public institutions was very enlightening," adding, "It was of great help in concretely planning my future career."

Hye-Young Kim, Dean of the JBNU College of Nursing, said, "We continuously operate various field-linked career exploration programs to strengthen students' career competencies," adding, "We will expand a range of on-site experiences and career exploration programs linked to AI and the field of digital healthcare so that our students can proactively respond to the rapidly changing future healthcare environment."
