JBNU has joined with vocational colleges in the Jeonbuk region to establish a cooperative framework to cultivate local talent and promote regional–university mutual growth, in line with the government's Growth-Engine-Linked Local Talent Development Plan (the 'Create 10 Seoul National Universities' initiative).

JBNU held the "Signing Ceremony for the Agreement on Growth-Engine-Linked Local Talent Development with Vocational Colleges in Jeonbuk Province" at the President's Conference Room on the fourth floor of the University Headquarters on July 10 at 3:00 PM, and signed agreements with six member institutions of the Jeonbuk Regional Vocational Colleges Presidents' Council.

Attending the ceremony were President Woo Byung‑hoon of Jeonju Vision University; President Lee Jin‑suk of Kunjang University; President Kim Sang‑hee of Jeonbuk Science College; Vice President Kim Young‑hwa of Gunsan Nursing College; Vice President Jo Deok‑hyun of Jeonju Kijeon College; and Kim Seong‑won, Team Leader of Industry-University Cooperation at Baekje Arts University, among other representatives from the six member institutions of the Jeonbuk Regional Vocational Colleges Presidents' Council.

This agreement was prepared to strengthen cooperation between JBNU and the vocational colleges within Jeollabuk-do in accordance with the Ministry of Education's Growth-Engine-Linked Local Talent Development Plan (the 'Create 10 Seoul National Universities' initiative), and to contribute to national balanced development through the joint growth of the region and the universities.

Under the agreement, participating institutions will establish a joint education and research cooperation framework to provide tailored training for local talent linked to growth engines, and will jointly pursue related projects.

They also agreed to expand shared infrastructure — including joint use of educational and research facilities — and to actively cooperate on the "5 Regions, 3 Specialties Shared University" project, which will serve as an anchor for the regional talent development system.

JBNU expects that this agreement will further solidify the cooperative network among Jeonbuk-region vocational colleges and strengthen the foundation for customized talent development linked to growth engines.

President Yang O‑bong said, 'This agreement is a meaningful starting point for Jeonbuk National University, as the regional flagship national university, to establish a practical system for talent development linked to the region's growth engines on the basis of close cooperation with vocational colleges in the Jeonbuk region,' adding, 'We will work to strengthen the foundation for joint growth between the region and the universities by expanding joint education and research and Industry–University Collaboration beyond institutional boundaries, and to lead balanced national development.'
