JBNU has partnered with SK AX (President Kim Wan-jong), a leader in the AI industry, to pursue strategic cooperation to realize an AI Hub University and to train practice-oriented AI professionals.

On July 6, JBNU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SK AX at the University Headquarters on "Cooperation for Activating the AI Industry Ecosystem and the AI Hub University Project," and agreed to establish a cooperative framework for AI education innovation and the creation of an industry–university collaboration ecosystem.

The agreement was promoted to build an education-innovation model in which universities and industry closely cooperate in an era where AI technology drives innovation across industries, and to cultivate AI professionals who can be immediately deployed in the field.

It is particularly significant because it aims to lay an industry–university collaboration foundation for the successful implementation of the AI Hub University project and the activation of the AI industry ecosystem.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly operate educational system reforms and practice‑oriented training programs that reflect the needs of the AI industry. They will jointly design and operate AI Boot Camps and AI literacy curricula, and pursue various industry–university collaboration programs to train specialists in new AI and AX (AI Transformation) technologies.

They also plan to expand ongoing cooperative programs — including recruitment linkage for outstanding talent, field internships, technical seminars, and exchange events — to provide students with industry‑focused educational opportunities and to establish a virtuous industry–university collaboration cycle that supplies companies with top AI talent.

The agreement is regarded as an example of universities and companies jointly creating a future education model in step with the government's AI talent development policies and digital transformation strategy. 

JBNU plans to expand collaboration with industry based on its AI education and research capabilities to strengthen its role as a regional hub university leading AI innovation and to contribute to enhancing regional and national AI competitiveness.

In particular, JBNU intends to further advance its practical AI talent training system that connects education, research, and industry by linking the AI education innovation and physical‑AI R&D capabilities led by the AI University with SK AX's industry experience.

President Yang O-bong said, "AI competitiveness is a key factor that will determine future national competitiveness," adding, "Through this agreement, we will continue close cooperation with SK AX to train core AI talent required in the industry and to create a new model of education innovation and industry–university collaboration as an AI Hub University."
