Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Semiconductor Specialization Project Group (Director Kim Jin-su) will conduct the "2026 Semiconductor Leader Training – Six Sigma Black Belt Training" from July 6, 2026, to July 10, 2026, for five days to strengthen students' advanced practical skills.

The training, held in College of Engineering Building 8, Room 302, is an advanced course following the previously conducted Green Belt training. It aims to enhance practical problem-solving abilities by teaching advanced statistical analysis and quality control techniques required in semiconductor manufacturing. In particular, the program focuses on strengthening data-driven decision-making capabilities so participants can lead process improvements and increase production efficiency.

The curriculum is centered on the core Six Sigma methodology DMAIC (Define–Measure–Analyze–Improve–Control). Students will learn specialized statistical techniques such as Gage R&R, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and design of experiments (DOE) in theory, and receive hands-on intensive training to apply these methods to real process condition design and optimization.

The program includes practical exercises throughout and, after the training, will allow participants to directly assess their readiness for the Black Belt qualification—the highest Six Sigma level—through project presentations and expert evaluations.

Ten students selected from among those participating in the Semiconductor Convergence Major will take part in this training. Based on the outcomes of this program, the Project Group plans to continue expanding practice-oriented training programs that reflect industry demand.

A representative of the Project Group said, "This training focused on strengthening the data-driven problem-solving capabilities required in actual industrial settings," adding, "We hope it will provide students preparing for employment with tangible competitive advantages."
