Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Medicine alumnus, Honorary Professor Won‑Ho Kim, has donated 100 million won in scholarship funds for students. The donation was made to continue the legacy of his parents, who devoted their lives to caring for neighbors and practicing generosity together with his wife, Director In‑sook Park of Seoul Radiology.

The Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation held a development fund donation ceremony on July 2 in the President's Office at University Headquarters, attended by President Yang O‑bong and other senior university officials. A plaque of appreciation was presented to express gratitude.

The gift reflects the donors' sincere desire to return the love they received from society back to the community, going beyond simple financial support. In particular, the starting point of this giving was the hope that students who face financial difficulties and feel burdened by their studies will not become discouraged but will concentrate on their education and later grow into compassionate healthcare professionals.

Honorary Professor Won‑Ho Kim graduated from the JBNU College of Medicine as part of the 8th graduating class. He served as a professor in the Division of Cardiology at Jeonbuk National University Hospital and has devoted himself to training future medical professionals and to the advancement of regional healthcare. Director In‑sook Park has also run Seoul Radiology Clinic in Geumam‑dong, Jeonju, for more than 30 years, working to improve the health of local residents and advance medical services. Having practiced the value of life and the importance of sharing for many years in clinical settings, the two agreed around the time of their retirement to expand the existing 'Seoam (Kim Hee‑ju) Scholarship.'

This scholarship also serves as a means for the couple to pass on the values they inherited from their parents to younger students. Honorary Professor Won‑Ho Kim and Director In‑sook Park stated, 'Our parents always left us with the wish that we live caring for neighbors in need. In keeping with that wish, we donated this scholarship so that students can focus on their studies without financial worry and, in the future, grow into medical professionals who have a positive impact on society.'

The donated development fund will be administered as the 'Seoam (Kim Hee‑ju) Scholarship' and will be used to support the academic activities and scholarship programs of students in the Jeonbuk National University College of Medicine. 

President Yang O‑bong said, 'We are deeply grateful for the donors' profound affection for younger students and their warm generosity,' adding, 'We will manage the funds responsibly to ensure the donor's noble intentions are fully conveyed to the students.'
