Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Industry-University Cooperation (Director Baek Ki-tae) has been selected for the 2026 Technology Management Promotion Project (TLO – Innovation Type), supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Science and Technology Commercialization Promotion Agency.

The Technology Management Promotion Project (TMC) is a flagship technology commercialization support program designed to identify excellent university research outcomes and connect them to tangible commercialization through technology transfer and technology-based start-ups.

With this selection, JBNU's Industry-University Cooperation will receive government support totaling KRW 2.5 billion over two years and six months, including KRW 500 million in the first year.

Based on this, JBNU plans to further enhance an end-to-end technology commercialization model — from identifying promising technologies to market validation, matching with demand companies, technology transfer, start-ups, and linking to follow-up R&BD — leveraging the Industry-University Cooperation's dedicated technology commercialization organization (TLO), a technology holding company, and collaboration among participating research labs.

In particular, through this project the university will not merely hold excellent patents and research outcomes. It will select them based on corporate demand and marketability and implement tailored support focused on technologies with high commercialization potential. This approach aims to increase the actual transfer of research outcomes and start-up successes, and to strengthen the efficiency and practical relevance of university technology commercialization.

JBNU will also identify five project labs linked to regional strategic industries such as advanced bio, secondary batteries, semiconductors, and Physical AI, and provide focused support to ensure that technology development and commercialization are realized in practice.

At the same time, the Industry-University Cooperation will accelerate the establishment of a regional innovation-type technology commercialization system centered on innovation models such as an AI-based research outcome generation platform, a Jeonbuk–Capital Region mutual cooperation platform, and the establishment of the JB Mini Tips Town.

Baek Ki-tae, Director of JBNU's Industry-University Cooperation, said, "This selection represents external recognition of the excellent research outcomes and technology commercialization capabilities JBNU has accumulated," and added, "Going forward, centered on the Industry-University Cooperation's Center of Technology Business, we will produce tangible technology commercialization results that enable researchers and companies to grow together."

Meanwhile, JBNU's Industry-University Cooperation plans to use this project as an opportunity to further strengthen the university TLO function and expand technology transfer and start-up support systems linked to regional companies and strategic industries, thereby contributing to regional innovation and the dissemination of public technology commercialization as a regional hub national university.
