JBNU and nine other Jeonbuk-area universities have joined hands to actively respond to the government’s 'Growth-Engine-Linked Regional Talent Development (Create 10 Seoul National Universities)' policy.

Building on inter-university cooperation accumulated through the Glocal University 30 Project and the RISE Project, the plan is to strengthen joint education, research, and industry linkages beyond institutional boundaries and to further reinforce a sustainable innovation system in which the region and universities grow together.

JBNU, Kunsan National University, Yesu University, Yewon Arts University, Woosuk University, Wonkwang University, Jeonju National University of Education, Jeonju University, Hanil Jangsin University, and Howon University — the ten universities — signed an agreement at the Jeonbuk Regional University Presidents' Council meeting held on the 24th at 11:30 AM and agreed to pursue mutual cooperation.

Under the agreement, each university will concentrate its capabilities on regional growth-engine (strategic industry) sectors defined by the 'Five Poles, Three Specialties' framework, and jointly pursue the establishment of 'Growth-Engine Branded Colleges' and AI education and research hubs.

In particular, they plan to establish a virtuous cycle linking education, research, employment, and residency by providing industry-demand-based AI convergence education and practice-linked talent development, creating an employment and entrepreneurship ecosystem, and operating shared university programs.

They will also establish joint education and research cooperation systems among universities and jointly pursue industry–university collaboration projects. They will expand infrastructure sharing, such as joint use of educational and research facilities. Through these measures, they expect to systematically train customized talent needed by regional growth industries and contribute to increasing regional settlement rates.

JBNU intends to use this agreement as an opportunity to strengthen administrative and financial support and to actively back the operation of joint projects. It will also form a working task force to detail specific tasks and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation by sharing outcomes and information derived during the collaboration.

JBNU President Yang Oh-bong said, 'The government's "Create 10 Seoul National Universities" policy is significant in building a win‑win model in which regions and universities grow together by cultivating talent linked to regional growth engines,' adding, 'Beyond competition among universities, we will contribute to balanced national development by nurturing practical talent connected to regional industries through close cooperation.'
