Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) The School of International Studies Professor Ji-yeon Park donated 10 million won to the development fund to support the stable academic and research activities of international students enrolled in the Department of International Development at the Graduate School, which was launched for the first time this year.

The donation will be used as living-expense scholarships for international graduate students in the Department of International Development, enabling them to focus on their studies and research in a more stable environment.

Professor Park, who has been engaged in education and research with students at JBNU's The School of International Studies since 2018, is interested in international development, peace, and global cooperation, and has worked to educate and cultivate talent while communicating with students from diverse backgrounds.

Professor Park said she found it meaningful that the School of International Studies has launched, for the first time this year, a master's program in the Department of International Development at the Graduate School, creating a new learning forum where students from various countries and backgrounds can consider 'development' and discuss 'peace' together.

She explained that, in particular, seeing newly admitted students this semester participate in classes with a serious attitude despite unfamiliar surroundings and share their experiences and concerns strengthened her desire to prevent students from having to give up academic opportunities or suffer difficulties because of financial burdens.

She added that she wanted to help international students worry less about living and academic concerns and concentrate on their studies and research. She also hopes that awareness of scholarship opportunities for prospective applicants to the Department of International Development's graduate program will encourage more global talents to choose JBNU.

Professor Park said, 'International students often face not only differences in language and living environments but also economic difficulties. I hope this scholarship will provide practical assistance so that students can focus on their studies and research in a more stable environment.'

She continued, 'The Department of International Development's graduate master's program at our university has now taken its first step. I hope it will grow into a learning space where diverse talents from around the world gather to share experiences and ideas and to think together about a better future.'
