The Jeonbuk Provincial Environmental Health Center, designated by the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy, has achieved success in training specialist instructors to expand environmental health education in the field.

The Jeonbuk Provincial Environmental Health Center (Director Kim Yong-hyun) and the Jeonbuk Provincial Environmental Education Center (Director Kwak Dong-hee) held a completion ceremony for the '2026 Environmental Health Capacity Building Advanced Course' on June 10, 2026. Through this training, they produced 17 certified environmental health instructors and further strengthened the community-based foundation for environmental health education.

The program was designed to expand the expertise of instructors in the environmental and ecological fields into environmental health. Starting with an orientation on May 6, 2026, it ran over 10 sessions. A total of 19 participants enrolled, and 17 met the attendance and assessment requirements to complete the course.

The curriculum focused on theory, experiential learning, and practical exercises to deepen understanding of environmental health and environment-related diseases and to apply this knowledge in educational settings. Topics included understanding and prevention of environmental diseases, environmental hazards and their health impacts, and environmental health education techniques. Participatory programs were also offered, including a meditation program and training that used the environmental disease prevention card game 'Naemom Suhodae' ('My Body Protection Squad').

In particular, trainees collaboratively developed a shared lesson plan for preventing environmental diseases and raising awareness through group activities. In the final stage, all course completers performed 10-minute teaching demonstrations based on these plans to share the educational outcomes.

The teaching demonstrations were evaluated comprehensively on factors such as expertise, clarity of delivery, teaching methods, ability to engage participants, and field applicability. Instructors selected as outstanding will participate in environmental health education for pregnant women, conducted at public health centers across the province from June to August.

Additionally, the outstanding instructors will take part in various future training and community programs implemented by the Jeonbuk Provincial Environmental Health Center and play a central role in spreading environmental health education to local residents.

Director Kim Yong-hyun said, 'This training has provided an opportunity for environmental instructors to grow into key local personnel with expertise in environmental health. I hope the course completers will raise awareness of environmental health across communities and contribute to improving residents' health.'

Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk Provincial Environmental Health Center is carrying out various environmental health initiatives—including education, surveys and research, and support projects for vulnerable groups—to promote healthy living environments for residents and prevent environment-related diseases.
