The Korean Women's Studies Association (President Kim Mi‑kyung, Professor, Gwangju University) will hold its 2026 Spring Conference on June 13, 2026 (Saturday) at JBNU Humanities and Social Sciences Building and the College of Social Science. The conference theme is "Regional Turn in Feminism: Rooted Knowledge, Moving Solidarity."

Organized by the Korean Women's Studies Association and co‑hosted by the National Women's Policy Network, the JBNU Women's Research Institute, and the JBNU 4th Phase BK21 Project Team for Social Solidarity and Integration of Fragmented Society, this year’s event is intended to examine, from a feminist perspective, the gendered landscapes and risks of disappearance confronting localities, as well as diverse regional issues such as migration and settlement.

The conference will take place in three parts. In addition to regular sessions, a special program under the theme "Resonant Feminism" will review the JBNU Women's Research Institute’s past decade of work, foster encounters with local cultural and arts organizations, and consider the traces and future of student‑centered feminist movements on campus. The keynote roundtable in Part 2, which centers on the conference’s main theme "Regional Turn in Feminism: Rooted Knowledge, Moving Solidarity," will feature discussions on the decolonial turn in local women's history and on the sensibilities of community and neighborhood. 

Special cultural events and joint sessions will also draw attention. Director Gam Jeong‑won’s film <Heesu> (2022) will be specially screened twice in Room 111 of the College of Social Science, once in the morning (10:00–11:50) and once in the afternoon (15:40–18:00). In addition, the National Women's Policy Network’s joint special session "Young Women Living in the Regions" will share the settlement realities, spatial exclusion, and life experiences of young women from Gwangju, Ulsan, Seoul and other areas, and will explore related policy tasks from multiple perspectives.
