JBNU has, through industry–university–research collaboration based on the Glocal University 30 Project, attracted national government-funded projects totaling KRW 286.8 billion over the past three years, thereby accelerating achievements toward building a Jeonbuk-style industrial city (JUIC Triangle).

This achievement is an example of the Glocal University 30 Project's core objective of "regional-university co-growth" working in practice. It is the result of efforts to establish industry–university–research campuses in connection with the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province's region-specific industrial development strategies. JBNU has been concentrating on expanding research, education, and demonstration infrastructure linked to local industries around the JUIC Triangle connecting Saemangeum–Iksan/Jeongeup–Jeonju/Wanju.

As detailed implementation tasks under the Glocal University 30 Project, JBNU is specializing and fostering Saemangeum in secondary batteries, sensor semiconductors, and the defense industry; Jeonju and Wanju in agri‑life sciences and green hydrogen; and Iksan and Jeongeup in pet bio and veterinary pharmaceuticals.

This strategy has led to attracting major national funding projects. Over the past three years, JBNU secured national R&D projects covering future strategic industries, including a Semiconductor Joint Research Center (KRW 60.2 billion), the Physical AI Core Technology Demonstration Project (KRW 29.9 billion), and the Next-Generation Animal Pharmaceutical Regulatory Free Zone Project (KRW 49.0 billion), thereby proving the operational effectiveness of the Glocal University model.

In particular, the Semiconductor Joint Research Center is a representative example of the "open industry–university–research collaboration platform" that the Glocal University 30 Project aims for. Based on an open structure involving universities, companies, and research institutes, it will pursue collaborative research and technology demonstration across design, processes, and equipment. Through this, JBNU plans to strengthen in-service training and professional workforce development and systematically produce practice-ready personnel who can be deployed immediately in industry.

The Physical AI Core Technology Demonstration Project is also concretizing the Glocal University project's outcomes linking technology and industry by expanding demonstration-focused research connected to regional industries into various fields such as manufacturing, robotics, and smart cities.

Additionally, the Next-Generation Animal Pharmaceutical Regulatory Free Zone Project is directly tied to the pet bio industry of the Iksan–Jeongeup region. Through regulation-relaxation-based demonstration and company support, it is expected to expand the regional industrial ecosystem and contribute to securing global competitiveness.

President Yang O-bong said, "The industry–university–research collaboration base built through the Glocal University 30 Project has resulted in securing national government-funded projects totaling KRW 286.8 billion over the past three years," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to refine a sustainable innovation model in which the region, industry, and university grow together centered on the JUIC Triangle."
