JBNU participated in the 'QS EduData Summit 2026' hosted by the global university ranking agency QS, sharing its AI-based university innovation cases with universities worldwide and attracting attention as a global model for university innovation.

President Yang O-bong delivered a presentation on June 3, 2026, at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on the theme "How Should AI Transformation Be Implemented Inside Universities?"

The session was conducted in a "Fireside Chat" format, allowing free dialogue between the moderator and the speaker. It covered the AI-based education, research, and administrative innovation initiatives undertaken over the three years since President Yang took office, and the role of universities in the AI era.

In his presentation, President Yang emphasized, "AI transformation is not an option but an essential task for the university's survival and future competitiveness," and stressed that "in the AI era, the entire university system must change together beyond merely digitizing individual systems."

Over the past three years, JBNU has invested approximately KRW 17.18 billion (about USD 20 million) to build AI infrastructure integrating education, administrative, and research data, including the "JUMP platform," as well as AI Tutor, AI Job, and AI R&D systems.

In particular, the AI Tutor system provides personalized learning tailored to each student's level and multilingual learning support. The AI Job system operates student-tailored career planning and employment support services based on data from approximately 15,000 alumni.

Additionally, the AI R&D system automates research project management and research administration tasks, enabling researchers to focus more on the research itself.

JBNU is also strengthening practical educational systems that connect AI-based educational innovation to industry. Through Industry-Extended PBL (IX-PBL), students can gain project-based problem-solving experience in real industrial settings for a minimum of six months and up to one year before graduation. JBNU has established an AI-based practical talent development system through collaboration with companies in the automotive, battery, and advanced industry sectors.

JBNU has also established the JBNU–Purdue Research Institute (JPRI) with Purdue University in the United States to expand global joint research and talent development. It participates in the Korean government's national strategic project, the large-scale Physical AI research initiative, conducting AI-based future industry innovation research together with KAIST, Hyundai Motor, SK Telecom, NAVER, and others.

President Yang said, "There are limits to education that focuses only on simple knowledge transfer in the AI era," and added that "what matters most is that students acquire practical experience in solving real industry problems and the ability to utilize AI."

He continued, "Rather than each university trying to solve the challenges of the AI era alone, it is crucial that universities share experiences and solutions and cooperate. We will continue to collaborate with global universities to steadily disseminate models of university innovation in the AI era."
