JBNU is pursuing the establishment of a super-regional local–industry–academia collaboration framework, in cooperation with Jaeneung University, to align with the government's national balanced development strategy known as the '5 Poles, 3 Specialties' system.

This collaboration is part of efforts to lead the transition to an 'anchor system,' in which universities function as the central axis of regional innovation, and to secure policy alignment with higher education reform directions centered on national flagship universities.

Accordingly, the two universities confirmed the basis for mutual cooperation at a recent exchange meeting and announced on the 2nd that they had signed a letter of intent (LOI) to cooperate on jointly proposing super-regional consortium projects in the future.

University presidents and senior officials from both institutions attended the meeting and reached a consensus on continued practical cooperation and expanded exchanges.

This collaboration is expected to be an important milestone in JBNU's advancement as an anchor university leading the national education ecosystem. Through linkage with Jaeneung University, JBNU plans to expand the scope of higher education cooperation nationwide and to establish a foundation capable of meeting diverse educational demands.

In particular, the Jaeneung University delegation toured JBNU's major education and research infrastructures, including the advanced digital education space 'AI Space' and the 'Han Seung-heon Library,' and reviewed the future-oriented educational environment and the university's local–industry–academia collaboration capabilities.

This brought significant attention to the competitiveness of JBNU's education and research systems as a super-regional anchor university.

President Yang O-bong said, 'This cooperation provides an opportunity to establish a diversified framework that can be expanded beyond the existing region-centered RISE (Regional Innovation-centered University Support System) model to the super-regional level,' adding, 'We plan to continuously expand cooperation across various areas, including joint responses to large national R&D programs, lifelong vocational education collaboration, and development of programs linking local–industry–academia.'
