JBNU Professor Yoon Myung-suk Appointed Non-Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Korea

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Professor Yoon Myung-suk (Executive Vice-President of Foreign Affairs and Professional Affairs; Department of Social Welfare) has been appointed as a non-executive director of the National Research Foundation of Korea, which oversees national research policy, expanding her role in the research field. Her term runs from May 26, 2026 to May 25, 2028.

 

The directors of the National Research Foundation of Korea review the foundation's major policies overall, including management objectives, budget, and operational plans, and serve in an advisory capacity based on their expertise. They play an important role in setting the direction of national research and development policy.

 

Professor Yoon said, "As a researcher at a regional university, I will contribute to the balanced development of the regional research ecosystem, strengthen researcher-centered research support, and streamline administration. In particular, I will focus on protecting the research capacity of universities in population-declining regions and expanding research support in the humanities and social sciences while serving as a director."

 

Meanwhile, Professor Yoon is an expert in the field of social welfare practice. Since joining JBNU in 1998, she has served as Dean of the College of Social Science, Dean of the Graduate School of Public Policy, President of the Society for Social Welfare Practice Research, and Chair of the National Association of Directors of International Affairs (KAFSA). She currently serves as JBNU Executive Vice-President of Foreign Affairs and Professional Affairs, overseeing the university's external relations and career and employment policies.
