Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Housing and Residential Environment (Department Head Professor Jang Mi‑sun) will present a graduation exhibition featuring students' works that explore the meaning of space connecting scenes of life.
The Department of Housing and Residential Environment announced that it will hold the 16th Graduation Exhibition, 'SEQUENCE,' from May 27 to June 2 in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the JBNU Samsung Arts Center.
This exhibition, under the theme 'A Flow of Life Connecting Scene to Scene,' presents works that reinterpret space not as a mere physical structure but as a mediator that connects memories and relationships of life. The exhibition title 'SEQUENCE' refers to the process by which scenes connect to form a single narrative.
Participating students developed their own spatial philosophies around three keywords: 'Frame,' 'Link,' and 'Flow.' 'Frame' denotes the spatial frame that contains various scenes of life; 'Link' describes the relationships that connect people, space, and memory; and 'Flow' refers to the spatial experience that embodies the flow of time, emotions, and everyday life.
A total of 22 students are participating in this exhibition, presenting spatial designs addressing various social issues such as community restoration, emotional healing, intergenerational connection, and relationship formation within the city. The works are expected to offer insights into students' experimental approaches and awareness of local housing issues.
Over approximately five months, the participating students worked continuously with their advisors, Professor Lee Seung‑hee and Professor Jang Mi‑sun, communicating throughout the entire process from idea development to design and model making. In addition, Professors Park Hee‑jun, Kang Chun‑won, Choi Byung‑sook, and Bae Chi‑hye supported the students at every stage, demonstrating the strong bonds between faculty and students in the department.
Ko Se‑jin, student and chairperson of the Graduation Exhibition Preparation Committee, said, "This exhibition is the result of the concerns and experiments students accumulated during their university life. We want to share with visitors how space connects to and influences life."
Meanwhile, the Department of Housing and Residential Environment's graduation exhibition annually reflects social changes and housing environment issues through its theme, sharing students' creative perspectives and maintaining communication with the local community.
