Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Industry-University Cooperation Regional Child Center Jeonbuk Support Team, which operates under commission from Jeollabuk-do Special Self-Governing Province, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hwang Yang-hee Language Development Center (Director Hwang Yang-hee) and the Lagom Psychological Counseling Center (Director Lee So-hyun) and established an integrated support system encompassing language, psychological, and emotional services.
This agreement was arranged to support the development of children using regional child centers in Jeollabuk-do and to improve their care environments. In particular, participation by specialized institutions in language development and psychological and emotional services is expected to enable more systematic and professional support tailored to each child’s developmental characteristics and needs.
Under the agreement, the Hwang Yang-hee Language Development Center and the Lagom Psychological Counseling Center will expand tailored services based on their respective expertise to prevent language-developmental delays in children with borderline intellectual functioning and to promote emotional and social development. In addition, they plan to cooperate in building a counseling infrastructure centered on regional child centers so that ongoing psychological and emotional support for children can be provided.
The signing ceremony was attended by Choi Hyun-young, Director of the Regional Child Center Jeonbuk Support Team, and Directors Hwang Yang-hee and Lee So-hyun, among other officials. Following the signing, discussions continued on detailed operational plans and future directions for collaboration.
Director Choi Hyun-young stated, “This agreement has laid the groundwork for organically linking children’s language development and emotional support. We will continue to strive to improve local child care welfare through cooperation with various specialized institutions.”
Kim Seo-hyun, Chair of the Operations Committee and Professor in the Department of Social Welfare, JBNU, said, “We will further strengthen inter-institutional cooperation so that practical and sustainable support can be provided to children.”
Meanwhile, the JBNU Regional Child Center Jeonbuk Support Team provides education, consulting, and evaluation to 287 regional child centers in Jeollabuk-do. It delivers tailored services for local children through various specialized programs, including the 'Support Program for Children Growing as Themselves' and the 'Care and Safety-Net Project for Children Suspected of Abuse', conducted in partnership with the Community Chest of Korea.
