Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (Chair Professor Anna Han) is operating a practice-oriented special lecture program in the spring semester of 2026 to support students' career exploration. Centered on the clinical nutrition specialization, the program focuses on presenting possibilities for expanding careers beyond the traditional perception limited to hospital settings, including elderly nutrition, public institutions, and the food industry.

The lecture series is designed not merely as classroom lectures but to allow students to systematically experience how major-specific knowledge is applied and extended in real-world settings. The program consists of six sessions covering various topics, including geriatric clinical nutrition; the expanded roles of clinical dietitians; career paths in public institutions such as the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety; and case studies applying dietary practices based on health food trends.

Experts from each field will participate to highlight the practical applicability of clinical nutrition and its potential for industrial expansion.

Professor Anna Han, Chair of the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, said, "Although food and nutrition are disciplines most closely connected to daily life, career options tend to be perceived as limited to hospitals or certain companies. Through this lecture series, we aim to present diverse career pathways based on clinical nutrition and hope it will provide students with an opportunity to expand their own possibilities."

She added, "Given that many students who enter through integrated tracks may not have a sufficient understanding of the major, we hope this program will help them gain confidence in choosing the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition."

Student responses have been positive and expectations high. Kim Minji, a student in the clinical graduate program, said, "Until now I had been focused on hospital employment, but I am looking forward to being able to see potential expansion into public institutions and various industries." Third-year student Kim Jeong-eun also said, "It seems beneficial to be able to engage concretely with diverse career paths linked to the major," adding that she is very interested in upcoming lecture topics.

Meanwhile, the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at JBNU has supported students' career exploration through various lectures and programs, and plans to continue expanding career-linked education across the field of food and nutrition, including clinical nutrition.
