Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Professor Dong‑Jun Park (College of Engineering, Division of Chemical Engineering) has been appointed as a Member At‑Large on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV).

The term is two years, through 2028. Professor Park will participate in decision‑making and the expansion of the academic network of the global extracellular vesicle (EV) research community.

ISEV is the world’s largest international scientific society for researchers and experts in the field of extracellular vesicles (EVs), with more than 2,000 members. Its core goals are the standardization and ensuring reproducibility of EV, exosome, and ectosome research, education, and the promotion of international cooperation. The society leads research and applications in the field.

In particular, the ISEV Annual Meeting has established itself as a leading international conference that discusses the latest research trends and future strategies across the EV field—from basic biology to disease pathology, biomarkers, therapeutic development, and analytical techniques.

This appointment is especially meaningful because it was decided through a global vote by ISEV members. Members At‑Large for 2026–2028 include leading researchers from various countries such as Mei He, Mona Batish, Matias Ostrowski, Natalie Turner, Yu Fujita, Monica Suet Ying Ng, Antonella Bongiovanni, Carlos Jesus, Christian Neri, Yiyao Huang, and Lorena Martin Jaular. Professor Park will also participate in board activities alongside them.

Professor Park’s research team conducts interdisciplinary research on EVs, including the development of EV‑based therapeutics, nanobio delivery systems, tissue regeneration and immune modulation, and single‑vesicle analysis technologies. In particular, the team focuses on building a biopharmaceutical platform that links basic and translational research, centered on stem cell‑derived EVs, targeted EV engineering, and the development of therapies for diabetic tissue damage and vascular regeneration.

The 2027 ISEV Annual Meeting is scheduled to be held in Busan from May 4 to 9, 2027. The conference is expected to provide an opportunity for domestic researchers to share global research trends and expand international collaboration networks. Based on his board activities, Professor Park plans to raise the international profile of the Division of Chemical Engineering at JBNU and the NanoBioSystems Lab and to expand academic exchanges.
