Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Signs Agreement with Five Universities on Humanities and Social Convergence Talent Development Project

JBNU, together with Kangwon National University, Korea University Sejong Campus, Sungkyunkwan University, and Silla University, announced on the 7th that it had formed the 'Korean Social Transformation K.O.R.E.A.+AX' consortium and signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the Humanities and Social Convergence Talent Development Project (HUSS).

 

The agreement aims to establish a convergence education system centered on the humanities and social sciences based on sharing and cooperation among universities, and to cultivate 'Da Vinci-type' convergent talents who will lead the realization of a human-centered future society.

 

The consortium plans, through the agreement, to pursue ▲Development and operation of tiered short-term, intensive convergence curricula ▲Expansion of course selection options irrespective of major and support for career development ▲Flexibilization and opening of curricula between universities and departments through academic system reform ▲Joint utilization of human and material resources.

 

In particular, to drive student-centered educational innovation, the consortium will focus on expanding convergence courses that transcend major boundaries and on enhancing educational accessibility and learning flexibility by sharing academic systems among participating universities.

 

Yang O-bong, President, said, 'The Korean Social Transformation consortium will concentrate on cultivating convergent talents who will design future society through cooperation with various institutions,' adding, 'We will produce professionals who combine humanities and social insights with technological understanding to contribute to strengthening national competitiveness.'
