The College of Social Science successfully hosted the 'Visiting Undergraduate and Graduate Student Academy' in cooperation with the National Assembly on the 29th in Room 201 of the Humanities and Social Sciences Building.

Some 100 students, including undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Social Science, attended the event. It was organized to enhance students' understanding of the role and functions of the National Assembly and to raise awareness of political participation. The program was particularly meaningful in that it provided opportunities for career exploration through direct communication with National Assembly staff.

The event began with a lecture by Cho Heung‑yeon, Head of the Education and Training Planning Division at the National Assembly Legislative Training Institute. The lecture, titled "The Crisis of Representative Democracy and the Institutionalization of Conflict Through the Legislative Process," examined the challenges facing modern democracy and the role of the legislature in mediating social conflicts through lawmaking. Students used the lecture to broaden their understanding of political institutions and to gain insight into real‑world politics.

In the following session, Dialogue with National Assembly Officials, Kim Seung‑gyun, Recruitment Officer, Personnel Division, and Im Chae‑hyun, Assistant Administrative Officer, provided detailed explanations of the roles of National Assembly officials, the recruitment process, and how to prepare for public service careers. Students actively engaged with questions, demonstrating a high level of participation and clarifying their inquiries about careers in the public sector.

Students who attended the event commented, "Through a conversation with National Assembly practitioners whom we rarely get to meet, I was able to clarify my career direction," and "It was a useful opportunity to gain a more realistic understanding of politics and the legislative process."

Joo Sang‑hyun, Dean of the College of Social Science, stated, "This academy provided a meaningful opportunity for students to understand actual policy and legislative processes outside the classroom," and added, "We will continue to expand programs that support students' career exploration and capacity building through cooperation with various external organizations."

Meanwhile, the College of Social Science plans to operate additional National Assembly tour programs and to continue follow-up activities, such as issuing certificates in the name of the Secretary General of the National Assembly to participating students.
