Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) SW-Centered University Project Group (Director Kim Seong-chan) and the Jeonsim Student Council (Student Council President Ryu Ino) held the "2026 JBNU AI & SW Education Volunteer Corps Launch Ceremony" at 11:00 AM on April 24, 2026, in the Minju Auditorium, 4th Floor, Student Town on campus, announcing the official start of AI & SW education volunteer activities for the local community.

The volunteer corps, composed of 50 JBNU students, will continue to provide outreach AI & SW education to senior centers, childcare centers, and underserved elementary and secondary schools across the Jeonbuk region.

The launch ceremony was attended by key guests who pledged support for future activities, including Deputy Director Kwak Young-tae of the JBNU SW-Centered University Project Group; Vice-Director Kim Do-woo of the JBNU Institute for Regional Development; Chairman Yoo Cheol-jung of the Digital Innovation Education Promotion Institute; Director Park Hye-ja of Miracle AGI; and Lee Hee-kyung, Head of Lifelong Education of the Jeonbuk Provincial Lifelong Education and Scholarship Promotion Institute.

At the event, appointment letters were presented to the 50 volunteers, and, together with related organizations, they shared the importance and expected effects of community-linked AI & SW education.

Kim Seong-chan, Director of the JBNU SW-Centered University Project Group, said, "The activities of this education volunteer corps are meaningful not only as talent donation but as a model of mutual growth in which the local community and the university grow together. We will continue to work to expand the base of AI & SW education and to close the digital divide."

Meanwhile, the 2026 JBNU AI & SW Education Volunteer Corps plans to operate AI & SW experience and basic education programs for various educationally marginalized groups within the Jeonbuk region and to disseminate its activity results through a year-end results-sharing meeting.
