JBNU has expanded and built out 'AI SPACE', an educational innovation hub based on generative AI and immersive content, further strengthening the educational infrastructure for cultivating talent in digital convergence.

This expansion was undertaken to actively respond to strong student participation and increased demand for education since the opening of AI SPACE in April last year. The Office of Educational Innovation at JBNU optimized the learning environment through spatial reconfiguration, secured additional student seats, and introduced an automatic lecture-recording system—an advanced edutech technology—to establish a system for producing and sharing high-quality educational content. This is assessed to have simultaneously improved learning accessibility and educational effectiveness.

A key element of the expansion is the introduction of a 'Physical AI'-based experiential environment. Beyond prior generative AI-centered experiences, it now enables practice-centered education that combines real physical movement with artificial intelligence.

Major equipment installed includes AI Go robots, AI drawing robots, quadruped walking robots, an AI-based hologram box, and a treadmill-type simulator. These allow students to directly experience a variety of advanced technologies and strengthen their practical skills.

Shim Jae-woo, Vice-President of the Office of Educational Innovation at JBNU, said that AI SPACE is an open learning platform integrating generative AI and immersive content, and added that the expansion will create an environment where students can routinely use and experiment with AI technologies and will allow the university to focus more on cultivating practice-oriented AI talent.

Yang O-bong, President, said that AI is the core driving force fundamentally changing the educational paradigm and emphasized that the expansion of AI SPACE is an important turning point that concretizes JBNU's pursuit of the 'On AI era' and the establishment of a 'Physical AI Valley.' He added that the university will continue sustained investment and support so that it can become a global-level model of digital education innovation.

Meanwhile, AI SPACE, located in Room 253, Jinsudang at JBNU, is open on an ongoing basis to members of the university community, and extracurricular programs and experiential courses using advanced equipment are planned to be expanded in the future.
