The Jeonju City Family Center (Director Lee Hae-gyeong), operated by the Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Family Center Project Group (Head: Professor Yun Myeong-suk), held the 'Healthy Family, Hope Ai-Energy Family Love Camp' on April 3 in cooperation with the Jeonju Correctional Institution for incarcerated individuals and their families.
The program was designed to provide opportunities for communication and reconciliation to incarcerated individuals and their family members whose family relationships have been severed or damaged due to life in custody. It aims to support the restoration of healthy family relationships and their stable reintegration into society.
The camp began with warm-up activities, including positive-mind education and team-building games to restore intimacy and bonds between incarcerated individuals and their families. This was followed by a food therapy program to improve family relationships. Finally, participants shared their thoughts and feelings, reaffirming the importance of warm interaction and harmony.
Lee Hae-gyeong, Director of the Jeonju City Family Center, stated, "This camp is intended not only to promote individual change among incarcerated persons but also to restore the bonds of families at risk of dissolution and to provide a practical foundation for their return as healthy members of society. Although the meeting was brief, I hope that this time of reaffirming the value of family will become a source of hope that helps secure stable resettlement in the future."
Participating families commented, "It was a time to confirm our love and longing for one another," adding, "Through this camp we saw hope that our family can come together again, and we want to continue to be a strong support for one another."
Meanwhile, the program is expected to support incarcerated individuals' healthy life during custody and serve as an opportunity to prevent recidivism and facilitate stable reintegration into society.
