Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Industry-University Cooperation (Vice-President Son Jeong-min) has launched efforts to build a collaborative network to enhance the quality of the university's intellectual property rights and to promote technology commercialization.

JBNU Industry-University Cooperation announced that on March 31 it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with 14 dedicated patent offices at the ITX Conference Room, Yongsan Station, Seoul, to establish a technology commercialization collaboration network, and held a meeting.

The event was attended by Son Jeong-min, Vice-President of Industry-University Cooperation, Park Jae-byung, Director of the Center of Technology Business, and some 30 representatives and officials from the 14 dedicated patent offices.

The agreement was established to collaborate with patent offices that possess expertise in the university's four core technology sectors—bio, materials, electrical and electronic, and mechanical—in order to facilitate the systematic securing of intellectual property rights for the university's outstanding technologies and to promote technology transfer and commercialization.

In particular, the participating institutions agreed to cooperate in operating industry–university collaboration field training programs to cultivate practical talent that meets industry demand.

Son Jeong-min, Vice-President of Industry-University Cooperation, said, "Through collaboration with dedicated patent offices possessing expertise in specialized fields, we have established a virtuous-cycle foundation that spans from the creation of outstanding technologies to technology commercialization and talent development. As a national flagship public university, we will actively identify and commercialize the university's outstanding technologies to contribute to regional economic revitalization."
