Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Regional Specialized Young Trade Experts Training Project Group (GTEP Project Group) was recognized for outstanding achievements at the completion and launch ceremony hosted by the Korea International Trade Association, with advising professors and students receiving consecutive awards.
JBNU said that at the event held on the afternoon of the 27th, Professor Lee Yun (Department of International Trade) received a Commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy. Professor Lee has participated as an advising professor for the GTEP Project Group since 2023, leading the group, providing systematic guidance to students, and was recognized for contributions to assisting small and medium-sized enterprises' entry into overseas markets and the development of export markets.
Students also stood out. Student Jang Hyuk-jin (Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies) received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, and student Ko Byung-ik (Department of International Trade) received the Korea International Trade Association President's Award, each recognized for excellent capabilities and exemplary activities.
They donated part of the revenue generated from a mock expo as a contribution toward recovery from the 2025 wildfires in the Yeongnam region, and contributed to the project's outcomes through field-centered practical activities such as providing interpretation and protocol services during meetings with invited foreign buyers.
In addition, seven students — Kim Do-yeon (Department of International Trade), Kim Min-ju (Department of Political Science and Diplomacy), Kim So-jeong, Kim Jeong-jin, Park Hyun-jin, and Choi Jun-hyeok (all Department of International Trade), and Han Ji-ye (Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies) — obtained the "Global Trade Expert" certification issued in the name of the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy. Notably, all 36 trainees of the 20th cohort completed the program, achieving a 100% completion rate and demonstrating the project's educational outcomes.
Choi Kyung-sook, Director of JBNU's GTEP Project Group, said, "The efforts and cooperation of the advising professors and students have led to meaningful results. We will continue to strengthen field-centered practical education and industry–university collaboration to foster global trade professionals."
Meanwhile, the JBNU GTEP Project Group is a program led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and supported by the Korea International Trade Association and the Jeollabuk-do Provincial Government. Through various programs — including participation in domestic and international fairs, overseas marketing, interpretation, and export support — it contributes to strengthening the export competitiveness of regional companies and cultivating young trade professionals.
