JBNU Launches Special Lecture Series on International Development Cooperation

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Jeonbuk International Development Cooperation Center (Director Baek Sook-hee) is hosting the Special Lecture Series on International Development Cooperation. The series began with its first lecture on March 24 and has now entered full operation.

 

The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Ji-hyun Kim, Research Fellow at the Science and Technology Policy Institute, on the theme "Understanding Science and Technology Innovation." The lecture provided an in-depth discussion focused on the meaning and role of science and technology in international development cooperation and on related policy trends.

 

The lecture concluded amid strong interest, presenting attendees with new approaches to international development cooperation and their practical applicability.

 

The series is linked to JBNU's elective course "International Development Cooperation and ODA." Follow-up lectures will be held every Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., from March 31 through June 9.

 

Subsequent lectures are scheduled as follows: March 31 — Eun-kyung Kim (Senior Research Fellow, Korea Women's Development Institute), "Understanding Gender Equality"; April 7 — Hyun-jung Park (Deputy Director, Climate Change Action Research Institute), "Understanding the Climate Crisis and Climate Action"; April 14 — Hyo-jung Lee (CEO, E&S Consulting), "Understanding Rural Development"; May 12 — Seung-heon Han (Director, Korea Institute of Public Administration), "Understanding Governance and Peace"; May 26 — Chung-hyun Oh (Visiting Professor, Seoul National University/Yonsei University College of Medicine), "Understanding International Health"; June 2 — Gyu-cheol Uh (Head of Headquarters, Korea International Development Cooperation Center), "Understanding Education"; June 9 — Ji-hyun Cho (Director, Development Cooperation Research Institute), "Practical Workshop on Designing International Development Cooperation Projects."

 

Each lecture will address theory and case studies centered on sectors of international development cooperation. The final project design workshop is structured so that students can acquire practical project planning skills.

 

The program is open to adults aged 20 and over interested in international development cooperation, including students enrolled in JBNU's "International Development Cooperation and ODA." Field-oriented instruction will be provided through participation by expert instructors in each sector.

 

Baek Sook-hee, Director of the Jeonbuk International Development Cooperation Center, stated, "This special lecture series is an educational program that enables a comprehensive understanding of the main fields of international development cooperation and expands practical capabilities. Through continued operation of the program, we will contribute to cultivating regionally grounded talent in international development cooperation."
