They wanted to provide their students with a warm morning meal. That single wish of teachers who devoted their lives to teaching returned to their alma mater as a warm breakfast for the next generation.

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Emeritus Professors Association (Chair Choi Dae-gyu) donated 8 million won to be used to support the 'One-Thousand-Won Breakfast.' Senior professors who have devoted their lives to education and research stepped forward to continue taking care of their students' morning meals even after retirement.

The donation ceremony was held on March 18 in the President's Office on the 4th floor of the University Headquarters. President Yang O-bong, Chair Choi Dae-gyu of the Emeritus Professors Association, and Yoo Jin-sik, Director of Administration, attended. The Vice-President of the Office of Student Career Support and the Student Council President were also present to convey their appreciation.

The entire donation will be used as a designated fund for operating the 'One-Thousand-Won Breakfast.' The program, which is supporting 32,500 people this year, is expected to be further expanded next year.

Choi Dae-gyu, chair of the Emeritus Professors Association, said, "I wanted to make a small contribution so that our students, on the campus where we have spent our lives, do not skip breakfast and can nurture their dreams in good health. I hope the sincerity of the emeritus professors becomes a warm encouragement to our juniors and a valuable nourishment for the university's development."

President Yang O-bong replied, "I am deeply grateful to the emeritus professors, who are the roots and moral pillars of the university, for continuing to care for their students with unwavering love after retirement. We will use the donated funds carefully for students' healthy campus life and the cultivation of world-class talent."

Meanwhile, the JBNU Emeritus Professors Association recently published the inaugural issue of the 'JBNU Emeritus Professors Association Bulletin,' creating a forum for sharing academic wisdom after retirement. With support from the Ministry of Science and ICT, it also established the 'JBNU Scientists' Social Cooperative,' thereby building a foundation that enables emeritus professors to participate in government and local government projects as well as contribute to industry through technical guidance and advisory activities. It is also providing full-scale support and cooperation as one team (One-Team) to ensure the success of the university's major initiative, the Glocal University 30 project.
