Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Nursing (Dean Kim Hye‑young) announced on the 20th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jeonbuk Support Group for Community Child Centers (Operating Committee Chair Kim Seo‑hyun, Professor, Department of Social Welfare, JBNU) and will begin full-scale support for community child care.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Hye‑young, Dean of the JBNU College of Nursing; Kim Seo‑hyun, Chair of the Operating Committee of the Jeonbuk Support Group for Community Child Centers; and Choi Hyun‑young, Director of the Jeonbuk Support Group for Community Child Centers, among others.
This agreement was established to link JBNU College of Nursing students' volunteer activities with support for the healthy growth and development of children at community child centers, and to expand community care activities.
Under the agreement, students belonging to the JBNU College of Nursing volunteer club 'Bongsarang' (faculty advisor Jeong Jae‑won) will carry out regular volunteer activities focused on community child centers in Jeonju. Volunteer activities will be offered in various forms, including basic academic support tailored to children's developmental levels and characteristics, programs supporting emotional and social skills, and health and hygiene education.
In particular, by linking with the Jeonbuk Support Group for Community Child Centers' program for children with learning difficulties, the 'Growing as Myself Support Project', and involving students from the Department of Nursing in volunteer activities, more professional and systematic support that considers children's developmental characteristics is expected.
Kim Hye‑young, Dean of the JBNU College of Nursing, said, "Through this agreement, I hope students will engage in meaningful volunteer activities that allow them to contribute to the community based on their academic training."
Kim Seo‑hyun, Chair of the Operating Committee of the Jeonbuk Support Group for Community Child Centers, said, "We will strive to ensure that the university and the local community cooperate so that activities providing practical assistance to children at community child centers can continue."
Meanwhile, both organizations plan to use this agreement as an opportunity to continuously operate volunteer activities and health and hygiene education programs for community child centers in Jeonju, and to expand collaborative projects for community child care, such as support for children with learning difficulties.
