Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) convened a high-level consultative body led by the President to improve university integrity and to address areas vulnerable to corruption, and has launched efforts to promote a culture of integrity.

JBNU announced on March 16 that it will operate an "Anti-Corruption and Integrity Council" with the President and heads of offices and division directors participating, in order to strengthen the momentum for implementing integrity measures across the university and to prevent entrenched corrupt practices.

The council was established for the President and senior university officers to share each department’s anti-corruption policy implementation status and to discuss measures to improve areas vulnerable to corruption. Its purpose is to enhance the university-level drive for integrity policy implementation and to expand the interest and participation of university members.

This year’s first council meeting was presided over by President Yang Oh-bong at 9:00 a.m. on March 16. At the meeting, the 2026 plan for implementing anti-corruption and integrity policies was shared, and discussions were held on future directions.

Before the meeting, President Yang led a "Ten-Point Integrity Pledge" ceremony. The pledge reaffirmed ten integrity practices: prohibition on receiving money or entertainment related to one’s duties; elimination of improper orders and abusive behavior; prevention of sexual misconduct; prohibition of drunk driving; prohibition of improper solicitation; prohibition of providing undue preferential treatment to specific individuals; avoidance of private conflicts of interest; performing duties according to standards and procedures; prohibition of misuse of public funds and communal property; and prohibition of private use of official information.

Through operating the council and the integrity pledge, JBNU intends to raise integrity awareness among university members and to strengthen the foundation for fair and transparent university governance.

President Yang Oh-bong said, "To enhance the university's credibility, above all an integrity-based organizational culture must take root. Starting with senior officials including the President, we will lead by example to establish a culture of integrity and realize transparent and fair university governance."
