Students from the Department of Smart Farm at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) demonstrated their expertise in digital agriculture by receiving the President's Award of the National Research Foundation of Korea at the 2025 WE-Meet Project, organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

This WE-Meet Project was supported by the Big Data Project Group of JBNU's Innovation Convergence University Project and was operated in connection with the Department of Smart Farm's regular course 'Smart Farm Creative Design' (supervised by Professor Kim Tae-gon). A total of nine teams participated. The project ran from September to December 2025.

The 'CodeFarm' team (Kim Yoo-gyeong, Park Eun-bin, Park Ju-young, Shin Ye-eun, Woo Ga-yeon) was recognized for excellence in the final evaluation and achieved the distinction of receiving the President's Award of the National Research Foundation of Korea at the '2025 Performance Forum of the Advanced-Field Innovation Convergence University Project and WE-Meet Project Awards Ceremony' held in January.

The 'WE-Meet (Work Experience-Meet) Project' is a program in which universities and companies cooperate to provide students with practical work experience. It aims to strengthen employment capabilities by having students carry out problem-solving tasks proposed by companies. In this competition, excellent teams selected through preliminary rounds advanced to the finals from universities affiliated with advanced-field Innovation Convergence University Project groups nationwide, and the final winners were chosen based on combined online voting and on-site expert judging.

The 'CodeFarm' team collaborated with SSL Co., Ltd. to carry out a project entitled 'Data Quality Management for Building Clean Agricultural Data.' The judges highly evaluated their proposal for a process to identify defective data and systematically manage data quality to enhance the reliability of data, a core asset in smart farm operations.

Notably, this evaluation placed the highest weight on 'practical applicability,' which assesses the logic of problem solving and how concretely existing knowledge was applied in the field. The CodeFarm team demonstrated that they possess practical professional skills by proposing concrete solutions that can be used immediately in agricultural data settings rather than relying solely on theoretical approaches.

Lee Jun-woo, Head of the Department of Smart Farm, said, 'The Department of Smart Farm at JBNU cultivates future-oriented talent who combine field readiness and expertise through education that integrates digital and smart agricultural technologies with the biological and environmental fields. This award is a meaningful recognition of our educational achievements.'
